Updated 2023 Randolph Town/Village - Calls for Police Coverage

The following is an updated summary of town and village calls for police services in 2023. The update includes an additional 600+ calls (*) from Randolph town (out of village) residents to VSP during the year, and has been confirmed with the Vermont State Police.

What this reveals is the total calls from town and village for police services are roughly 50/50 between town and village residents.

That is without subtracting all the traffic related activities that take place in the village but are due to town wide traffic that does not benefit the village. If we account for that, the town accounts for even more law enforcement demand than 50/50.

How is this fair to village residents?

(*) The total # of calls to the SP from Randolph is greater than 600, and may include some calls from village residents. To allow for this possible discrepancy, the estimate is limited to 600 calls for this summary. I have requested a line by line summary of the calls for verification. For now, it is assumed that village residents call the RPD while town residents call the State Police (first).
